New Manchester City signee Benjamin Mendy looks set to miss the start of the Premier League season as he recovers from a thigh injury.
The defender completed a 52-million-pounds (68 million dollars) move from Monaco on Monday and has been receiving treatment since joining City's pre-season tour of the United States.
"Mendy has a muscular injury and he needs two or three more weeks," manager Pep Guardiola said after Wednesday's 4-1 win over Real Madrid in Los Angeles. "We don't want to take any risks."
City open their season at promoted Brighton on August 12.
