Turkey is set to experience some of the warmest days of the year so far as temperatures are expected to rise above seasonal norms in the weekend by 5-10 degrees, with Istanbul forecast to reach 28C in the day time.
The state-run General Directorate of Meteorology said no rainfall is expected across the country on Saturday while the eastern and northern parts of Turkey will experience downpour in the afternoon hours.
The hottest areas are expected to be the Aegean and the Mediterranean, with Izmir reaching 32C on Sunday. But temperatures will start to slowly drop after Sunday afternoon as the temperature goes down to 25 from 28 in Istanbul on Sunday.
Spring started late in Turkey following harsh winter months as several cities in eastern Turkey saw snowfall in the first weeks of May. Occassional cold weather 10C below seasonal norms was also experienced across Turkey during the last month of spring.
