Turkey's antique city of Phaselis in Antalya's Kemer district attracts both local and overseas tourists with the unique combination of its historical ruins, stunning beach and natural beauty.

The history of the city goes back to the year 309 B.C. While exploring the rich history of the city the visitors can enjoy the blue water of the Mediterranean.

Every year, more than 100,000 tourists visit the city in Turkey's southern Mediterranean resort city of Antalya.

Located around 30 km from the Antalya city center, Phaselis can be reached via both motorway and waterways.

The city -- which was famous for producing perfume in antique era-offers a historical journey among the historical ruins from the Greek and Roman period.

Picnic spots are also available for the visitors.

Lena Werner, 29, a tourist from Germany, who visited the city with a tourist group for the first time, expressed her enjoyment to Anadolu Agency.

"This place is very nice. Historical ruins in the one hand, and natural beauties in the other hand. It's special to have a swim amid antique remains," she said.

Vedat Çubuk, who travelled to the city from Turkish capital, Ankara, said he visits the city every year for spending holidays.

"Beaches with no waves are among reasons families choose this place. The sea is neat and clean, water is as clear and pure as physically possible. I think, this unique beauty of our country needs to be advertised in all corners of the world."
