The Turkish Parliament will erect a monument at its premises to mark last July's failed coup, lawmakers said Wednesday.
Fighter jets dropped two bombs on the parliament in capital Ankara during the defeated coup of July 15, 2016. The monument will be erected in the part of the building which was damaged during the bombings.
The decision came after the presidency council meeting, which authorized the parliament speaker to erect the monument.
The council said it will select from the six drafts for the monument it had received.
The monument will display names of the coup martyrs and the Turkish flag's crescent and star.
Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup attempt on July 15, 2016 which martyred 250 people and injured nearly 2,200 others.
