At least 14 people have been arrested across Turkey on Sunday for their suspected links to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), the group behind last year's defeated coup, according to a security official.
In northwestern Edirne province, six FETO suspects -- including a former academician from Istanbul University, another from Istanbul Technical University, a former soldier, a former police chief and a former teacher -- were held at the Turkey-Greece border during a patrol in a military zone.
Separately, police arrested eight FETO-linked suspects in different provinces -- including capital Ankara, Istanbul, Corum and Samsun -- as part of the probe launched by Tokat province's Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the terrorist group's structure in Turkish Armed Forces.
Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup on July 15, 2016, which left 250 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.
Ankara also accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
