The United States is "saddened" by a flare-up in violence in Senegal, the State Department said Saturday, urging parties to "voice their views in a peaceful manner."

Washington "is troubled and saddened by the violence and damage we have witnessed in many parts of the country," the agency said, after fresh overnight clashes between police and the opposition in the West African country left 15 people dead.
