Gabon's President Ali Bongo Ondimba is being held under house arrest, according to the military leaders who announced a coup earlier in the day.
Bongo is accused of high treason, the group of elite officers said on state television.
Other members of the government as well as Bongo's son, Noureddin Bongo, have also been arrested, they said.
