Atalanta moved fourth in Serie A with a 2-0 win over second-bottom Sampdoria on Saturday, thanks to goals from Joakim Maehle and Ademola Lookman.
Gian Piero Gasperini's side moved to 38 points after 20 matches, one point ahead of Lazio and AS Roma having played a game more.
Atalanta went ahead in the 42nd minute when Maehle headed in a cross by Hans Hateboer.
Lookman doubled the lead after 57 minutes with a solo run into Sampdoria's box, finishing into the bottom-left corner from an acute angle.
Sampdoria are in 19th place with nine points after 20 games, one point ahead of Cremonese.
