New Yorker father and son subjected to racist attack by American woman of Jewish origin for wearing keffiyeh
Indian-origin father Ashish Prashar, a political analyst and active participant in President Joe Biden's 2020 election campaign, recently found himself at the center of an alarming incident that highlighted issues of racism and discrimination within American society. While enjoying a day at the park with his 1.5-year-old son, he was subjected to an unjust anti-Palestinian attack simply for wearing a keffiyeh – a symbol associated with Palestine.

Adorned with a keffiyeh, a symbolic representation of Palestine worn by many as an expression of solidarity, Prashar became the victim of an anti-Palestinian attack.
The assailant responsible for this hateful act was identified as an American woman of Jewish origin who subjected Prashar to baseless accusations regarding his support for Hamas and disgracefully labeled him as a terrorist while hurling derogatory remarks about Arabs.
Deeply disheartened by the lack of protection provided by U.S. institutions during such episodes, Prashar voiced his disappointment and concern over their failure to address these ongoing issues effectively.
Despite filing a complaint with local authorities immediately following the incident, it is disconcerting that no detective has yet been assigned to investigate this matter further – leaving both Prashar and countless others vulnerable to racial targeting.
In light of these unfortunate circumstances, Prashar passionately implored any witnesses present during the attack to come forward and contact the New York 88th district police station promptly.
Drawing attention to broader problems related to racism within society, he emphasized how U.S. institutions must acknowledge their responsibilities towards safeguarding individuals from all walks of life against such unprovoked assaults.
