US President Donald Trump said Thursday after Iran's highest bridge was attacked that more strikes are coming, urging Tehran to reach a deal before it is "too late."
"The biggest bridge in Iran comes tumbling down, never to be used again. Much more to follow!" Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.
"It is time for Iran to make a deal before it is too late, and there is nothing left of what still could become a great country," he added. Trump has repeatedly urged Iran to negotiate, most recently claiming that Tehran's new leadership requested a ceasefire, a claim Iranian officials denied.
A US-Israeli strike hit a key bridge on a major highway in northern Iran earlier Thursday, local media reported. According to the Fars News Agency, multiple sites were struck in the Azimieh area near the city of Karaj, including the B1 Bridge, described as the highest bridge in the Middle East. The outlet reported several injuries and the bridge, part of a major infrastructure project expected to be inaugurated soon, was damaged.
The strike is the latest escalation in a campaign that began on Feb. 28, when the US and Israel launched a joint air offensive on Iran, killing more than 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes on Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US forces, causing casualties and infrastructure damage while disrupting global markets and aviation.
