Turkish security forces caught a PKK/PYD terrorist near the country's border with Syria, security sources said Sunday.
Precautions at the border were heightened in response to intelligence suggesting that a terrorist was planning to infiltrate Türkiye from Syria, said the sources on condition of anonymity.
Security teams successfully apprehended the terrorist at the border in Ceylanpınar district of Şanlıurfa province, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the individual.
In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Türkiye, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the U.S. and the European Union — has been responsible for the deaths of more than 40,000 people, including women, children and infants.
