Tens of thousands of Pakistanis rallied on Friday to express solidarity with Palestinians to demand an end to Israel's retaliatory airstrikes on Gaza.
"Stop killing Palestinians," Senator Sirajul Haq, the head of Jamat-e-Islami party, told a charged crowd in Lahore.
Religious and political parties of the country observed Friday as "Unity Day for Palestine."
Hamas, which rules Gaza, unleashed a large-scale surprise attack against Israel over the weekend, prompting rolling Israeli strikes against the densely populated Palestinian enclave.
From Parachinar near the Afghan border to the southern city of Karachi, men women and children were seen carrying Palestinian flags at rallies and chanting slogans against Israel.
The protesters demanded the United Nations do something to stop the killing of innocent Palestinians.
"We are ready for every sacrifice and will continue to support Muslim brothers and sisters of Palestine," Haq said.
The senator and head the Islamist party also demanded the government immediately convene a meeting of political parties and discuss the matter.
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry condemned the "indiscriminate and disproportionate use of force by Israeli authorities against civilian population in Gaza" and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities.
