Chinese navy sails between Japanese islands for first time
A Chinese aircraft carrier, accompanied by two naval ships, has for the first time been confirmed to sail through the waters between Japan's Yonaguni and Iriomote islands, according to Japan's military. This movement raises regional tensions as military activities near Taiwan continue to attract attention.

A Chinese aircraft carrier and two other naval ships sailed between two Japanese islands near Taiwan, Japan's military said on Wednesday.
"This is the first time that an aircraft carrier belonging to the Chinese Navy has been confirmed to have sailed through the waters between Yonaguni and Iriomote," the defence ministry's joint staff said in a statement.
