"For the first time in the whole European market there has been an increase in May, varying from 5 to 30 percent. This year is going to be very fruitful with regard to European tourists," TÜRSAB's Foreign Operations Representative Hüseyin Baraner said.
Baraner went on to emphasize the importance of promotion and marketing efforts for those in the tourism sector, especially hotels.
"Everyone should allocate a part of their budget to improve relations with foreign markets. Some institutions should be built in different countries, politicians should build structures oriented toward influencing social life, sports, culture," Baraner said.
The TÜRSAB official advised hoteliers to come to Europe and present themselves to the people, noting that participation in international fairs is not sufficient.
Speaking of tourism's importance, Beraner described the industry as the "locomotive" of the Turkish economy, and indicated that the industry has become more experienced.
"Next year we will enter a healthy market. Our fears will fade. 2018's marketing will be different. We will enter safer markets and reach the old numbers again," Baraner concluded.
TÜRSAB is an organization aimed at development of the travel agency profession in harmony with Turkey's economy and tourism sectors.
