Turkey's Borsa Istanbul goes up at close

Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the day with a 1.62 percent increase to 103,929.33 points with a trade volume of 4.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.32 billion) on Tuesday.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 1,659.16 point, while the banking and holding sector indices went up 1.76 and 1.42 percent, respectively.
Among all sectors, the basic metal index advanced the most with a 5.01 percent hike, while the only wholesale and retail trade sector index fell 1.12 percent.
The shares of iron/steel producer Kardemir Karabuk (KRDMD) showed the highest increase with a 7.94 percent rise, and stocks of automotive manufacturer Ford Otosan (FROTO) was the worst performer with a 2.97 percent fall.
The five most-traded stocks of the BIST 100 were national flag carrier Turkish Airlines (THYAO), private lender Garanti (GARAN), iron/steel producer Kardemir Karabuk (KRDMD), state lender Halkbank (HALKB) and another private lender Akbank (AKBNK).
The BIST 100 was down 1,852.68 points or 1.78 percent to 102,270.17 points at close on Monday.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 3.5480 by 5 p.m. local time (1400GMT) Tuesday, down from 3.5250 at Monday's close.
Borsa Istanbul's Gold Exchange index was up 0.39 percent while the price of gold per kilogram increased to 148,550 Turkish liras ($42,008) as of 4.30 p.m. local time (1330GMT) on the day.
