Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is "definitely" invited to 50th anniversary of World Economic Forum (WEF) that will take place in January next year, head of the forum said.
"Then it's up to the president to decide, but he is cordially invited," Borge Brende told Anadolu Agency during his visit to Turkey.
Noting that several meetings were held with various Turkish ministers in the capital Ankara, Brende said the meeting with Finance Minister Berat Albayrak was "very constructive".
The ways to strengthen the cooperation between WEF and Turkey were addressed during the meeting with Albayrak, he noted.
Brende stated that strengthening cooperation on new technologies such as artificial intelligence and Internet of Things were discussed with Turkish Technology and Industry Minister Mustafa Varank.
"I also met with the trade minister, and we spoke about the importance of good cooperation between the European Union and Turkey on the Customs Union," he added.
He praised developments in Turkey over the last two decades.
