Turkey and Czechia (also known as the Czech Republic) would collaborate in a range of fields in the private sector, especially nanotechnology and innovation, a top Turkish businessman said Tuesday.

Speaking at a virtual seminar on bilateral opportunities organized by the Turkish Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), chairman Nail Olpak highlighted importance of increasing bilateral trade.

Underlining that market diversity is important for both nations, he said infrastructure up-gradation in Czechia is on the agenda in which "public-private sector cooperation would have a greater role."

"We can share experiences in this regard," he said.

Olpak said coronavirus has created hurdles worldwide, but the business world should focus on opportunities that could emerge.

Transit trade barriers between the two countries are "like a fortress wall," he said, adding: "We expect effective support from the Czech ambassador on this issue."

In 2019, Turkey and Czechia reached $3.7 billion trade volume, and aim to increase the figure to $5 billion.
