Some $590 million in ransomware-related payments were reported in the first half of the year by financial institutions operating in the United States, according to a report released Friday by the US Treasury Department.
According to the report, the figure is 42 percent higher than the amount reported for all of 2020, which comes as the costly and debilitating attacks have spiked.
