The Israeli army announced on Tuesday that Israel was pressing ahead with ground operations in the Palestinian territory without commenting on the location of its troops.
According to the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamist Hamas movement which controls Gaza, fighters attacked four Israeli army vehicles south of Gaza City.
In north-western Gaza, a tank and a bulldozer were attacked with two anti-tank missiles and other vehicles were fired upon north of the city, Hamas said.
In addition, soldiers on foot near the Kerem Shalom border crossing in the south-east of the Gaza Strip were fired upon with mortar shells, Hamas said.
