One person was killed and two others injured in an attack near Eiffel Tower in the French capital on Saturday night, according to local media reports.
The suspect killed a German tourist with a knife and injured two others with a hammer before being arrested by French police, France 24 reported.
According to the report, the assailant is a 25-year-old French man who had also served a prison sentence for planning an attack.
French President Emmanuel Macron has extended his condolences to the family of the German citizen.
Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne said on X: "We will cede nothing in the face of terrorism."
The anti-terrorism prosecutor's office confirmed it has opened an investigation into the attack.
