Germany's outgoing centre-left Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Tuesday praised the "historic" spending package for defence and infrastructure passed by the parliament in Berlin.
Scholz, speaking alongside visiting French President Emmanuel Macron, said that by "strengthening the European pillar of NATO, we will strengthen the transatlantic alliance as a whole".
