With his friend's assistance, Say transported the peculiar stone back to his home. As word spread and locals suggested it could be a meteorite, Say decided to extract a fragment from the stone and sent it to Çanakkale 18 Mart University for analysis.
While awaiting the results of the analysis, which is estimated to weigh over 60 kilograms, Say found himself being hailed as a potential millionaire by the people around him. Despite his cautious approach, refraining from making any assumptions until the analysis is complete, the locals have already labeled him a wealthy individual due to the presumed meteorite.
Acknowledging the perception of those around him, Ergin Say said, "I discovered this stone in August 2022. Due to my busy schedule, I was unable to have it analyzed promptly. We obtained a fresh sample by breaking off a new piece and sent it to Çanakkale 18 Mart University for testing. The stone was found in our field, and we are eagerly awaiting the results."
He added, "There is a dense layer within the stone, and it emits sparks when attempts are made to break it. As we lack the analysis results for the time being, we cannot be certain if it is indeed a meteorite. Although most people who have seen it claim it to be one, we are relying on the experts' verdict. At present, it weighs approximately 61 kilograms. If confirmed as a meteorite, we plan to contact NASA. The analysis we arranged will serve as a connection for the sale of the stone."
Having conducted some research, I have learned that the value of meteorites varies based on the elemental composition. However, without the analysis report, I am unable to provide an estimated price. We made tremendous efforts to break this stone, but it proved exceptionally challenging. Those familiar with this stone perceive us as millionaires. Nonetheless, as nothing definitive has been established, we cannot make any conclusive statements. However, all those who are aware of the situation believe we have stumbled upon a fortune. I have learned that it formed during atmospheric entry when the hard surface within the middle section interacted with the atmosphere."
