15 dead, 35 injured in New Year's Eve crash on Bourbon Street

The death toll from the incident on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, where a vehicle sped into a crowd in the early hours of the New Year, has risen to 15, with 35 others reported injured.

Authorities revealed that the attacker, who was killed in an armed confrontation with police at the scene, was 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar, a U.S. citizen and former soldier from Texas.

FBI agents and numerous police officers were at the scene, taking extensive security measures before reopening the street to pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
