78 people dies as boat carrying irregular migrants capsizes in Greece

78 people lost their lives when a fishing boat carrying irregular migrants capsized off the Peloponnese Peninsula of Greece.

According to the news in the Greek media, the fishing boat carrying irregular migrants capsized off the coast of Navarin Castle in the Peloponnese, for an undetermined reason.

In the incident that took place in international waters, 78 people lost their lives and more than 100 were rescued.

It was noted that the rescued migrants were taken to Kalamata Port and search and rescue efforts continue.

It is not yet known how many people were on the boat, which set out to transport the irregular migrants from Libya to Italy.

It was stated that the immigrants were Syrian, Palestinian, Afghan and Pakistani nationals.

Greek President Katerina Sakelaropulu will also go to Kalamata to support the rescued migrants.

On the other hand, it was reported that 80 irregular migrants were rescued this morning off the island of Crete.
