World leaders on Sunday took to social media to congratulate Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who has been reelected as Türkiye's president in runoff elections on Sunday. U.S. President Joe Biden congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on his victory in Sunday's presidential runoff. Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embalo expressed his 'warm and sincere congratulations' to Erdoğan, saying bilateral relations between Guinea Bissau and Türkiye will continue to be strengthened. Former U.S. President Donald Trump congratulated Erdoğan on his 'well deserved' victory in Sunday's presidential runoff. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko congratulated Erdoğan, saying the result is a sign of the trust of the Turkish people. In a phone call, Lebanon Prime Minister Najib Mikati congratulated the Turkish president. In the Balkans, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama also congratulated Erdoğan. The Turkish incumbent won the race with 52.16%, while Kılıçdaroğlu got 47.84% of the votes and 99.85% of the ballot boxes have been opened so far. In a speech in Istanbul late Sunday, President Erdoğan said Türkiye's 85 million-strong citizens are the winners in the national elections that concluded today. More than 64.1 million people were registered to vote, including over 1.92 million who earlier cast their ballots at overseas polling stations. On May 14, no candidate won the required 50% in the first round, triggering Sunday's runoff, although Erdoğan took the lead with 49.52%.
