Turkish flutist and composer Burak Beşir Monday has been granted "outstanding achievement" award by the Global Music Awards (GMA) for his instrumental solo performance in album "Passion".
According to GMA's website, Beşir bagged silver medal for his album "Passion" and instrumental solo performance.
"I feel really happy that I got GMA award. I've been getting positive reactions from the people who listened to my album," he told Anadolu Agency.
Currently based in Los Angeles, Beşir recommended the young musicians to follow their pursuits. "I recommend them to improve themselves and always dream a step further".
From now on, Beşir said, he would concentrate on movie soundtracks .
His award-winning album "Passion" not only includes Beşir's own compositions but also a mixture of tangos and operas.
Passion also presents Turkish and Anatolian melodies, in which Beşir collaborated with Jim Walker, an American flutist who played more than 700 soundtracks of Hollywood movies.
"I think 'Passion' is a very true word to describe my pursuit in life. Following your dreams, being passionate in what you are doing and unconditional love was always my guide in life," Beşir wrote on his official website.
Emine Sari, another Turkish musician, has been awarded bronze medal for lyrics of song "On My Own", which she wrote for American singer Nicky.
