U.S. chef and TV presenter Anthony Bourdain has died in France after committing suicide, CNN reported on Friday. He was 61.
"It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain," the network, which airs his food and travel show "Parts Unknown," said in a statement.
"His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much," CNN said.
The network said the celebrated French chef Eric Ripert found Bourdain in his hotel room unresponsive.
Bourdain shot to fame with his 2000 memoir "Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly," about his life as a New York City cook. He went on to work at several high-profile restaurants in the city before launching into a career in television.
