The Turkish Red Crescent will sacrifice animals in 40 countries as part of Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha, the foundation's deputy president said on Tuesday.
Muslims on Tuesday are marking the first day of the four-day Eid al-Adha holiday.
Speaking in Nairobi regarding the foundation's activities in Eid al-Adha, Ismail Hakkı Türünç said the Red Crescent will sacrifice 156,729 shares of animals.
Sheep and goats that will be sacrificed count as one share but a cow is cut into seven shares.
Turunç said around a third of those shares will be sacrificed in Turkey and two thirds abroad.
The Turkey Diyanet Foundation will also sacrifice animals in 69 countries, according to data received from the foundation.
