Int'l film festival to start in Istanbul on Friday

International Bosphorus Film Festival will begin in Istanbul on Friday to see the competition of nearly 90 films from across the world.

The 6th International Bosphorus Film Festival was put into practice with the supports of Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Anadolu Agency is the Global Communication Partner of it.

'The Old Man and The Gun' -- a 2018 American crime comedy written and directed by American filmmaker David Lowery -- will kick off the festival.

It will showcase 88 films of 90 directors from 41 countries between Oct. 26 and Nov. 3.

At least 400,000 Turkish liras ($70,952) will be given to winners as prize.

The participants will be awarded in three categories, namely the national feature film, international feature film and short film competition awards.

The Istanbul-based festival will host Leila Hatami and Payman Maadi, two distinguished actors of the Iranian cinema.

Ukrainian director Sergei Loznitsa, Portuguese film producer Paulo Branco and Bent Hamer, a film director, writer and producer from Norway will also be among the participants.
