A stray cat is adopted by over 600 students at a school in central Turkey.
A total of 623 students of Namık Kemal Secondary School are looking after the cat named after their school "Namık".
The school administration and students raised money to call a veterinarian for Namik's necessary vaccines.
One-year-old Namık's animal ID card features the name of the school as the owner.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency, school principal Enes Günay said that as winter weather conditions are harsh in Eskişehir, they wanted to keep Namık temporarily at the beginning.
"But the cat did not leave our school," Günay said.
The school children really love Namik and decided to keep the cat at school and made necessary arrangements with a veterinarian, he added.
Sevil Kaygusuz, a 14-year-old student, said: "It [cat] has been with us during the classes and we never had any issue with it," she added.
Adem Musluk, a veterinary, said that he was pleased by the students' love for the cat.
He said that pets that are regularly checked were not a threat to human health.
