Carbon monoxide leak kills 4 in Italy

Four members of a family died from carbon monoxide poisoning at a home near the Tuscan town of Porcari, Italian media reported. A fifth family member was hospitalized in critical condition, while three responding officers suffered minor intoxication.

Four people died due to a carbon monoxide leak at a house near Porcari commune of Italy's north-central Lucca.

Italy's ANSA news agency reported early Thursday that four members of a family died of carbon monoxide poisoning while a fifth member was taken to the hospital alive in critical condition.

Three officers who entered the home to provide assistance also reportedly suffered minor intoxication.

The family is reported to be of Albanian origin.
