A Palestinian youth succumbed to his wounds in the Gaza Strip on Monday, taking the death toll of Palestinians killed by Israeli gunfire since late March to 117, according to the Health Ministry.
Naser Arif al-Areeni, 28, died of wounds sustained by Israeli gunfire during rallies along Gaza Strip's eastern border, ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra said in a statement.
Tension has been running high across the occupied Palestinian territories since the United States relocated its embassy earlier this month from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, which was occupied by Israel in 1967 and represents the heart of the decades-long Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Since late March, Palestinians have been staging rallies against the decades-long Israeli occupation along Gaza border to demand their return to their homes in historical Palestine from which they were driven in 1948 to make way for the new state of Israel.
