The United Arab Emirates (UAE) recorded 1,041 new infections from the coronavirus outbreak on Sunday, while Qatar registered 159 cases.
The UAE Health Ministry said the Gulf state's tally now rose to 98,801 confirmed cases, including 426 deaths, while recoveries soared to 88,123 after 1,001 patients had recovered from the virus.
In Qatar, the Health Ministry said the nationwide count rose to 126,441, including 216 deaths, and 123,475 recoveries.
Since starting in China in late December last year, the coronavirus pandemic has spread worldwide, claiming over 1.03 million lives in 188 countries and regions, and causing nearly 34.95 million infections, according to the latest figures from the US' Johns Hopkins University.
