The Al-Amin Muhammad Mosque in Gaza's Khan Younis city was reportedly destroyed in an Israeli attack. Local sources have indicated that Israeli warplanes targeted the mosque in the course of the ongoing conflict in the region.

Palestinians inspected the damage as rescue and recovery operations were underway in the Gaza Strip after Israel's retaliation airstrikes...

"We were under the safety of Allah inside this mosque. We performed night prayer at it yesterday. Suddenly this mosque was struck without any initial warning and without telling any of the neighbors. They made elderly people, children and women scared. Copies of the Koran were shattered on the ground. The mosque was completely destroyed. Why?" Gazan man, Ramiz Hemidi, said in a statement.

Hamas launched Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on Saturday and said the surprise attack was in response to the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and increased settler violence. It said it fired rockets and captured many Israelis.

In turn, the Israeli army initiated Operation Swords of Iron against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: "We are at war." He urged civilians in Gaza to leave as the Israeli military is going to turn "all Hamas hiding places into rubble."
