Norway said late Tuesday that attacks on hospitals, which are protected under international humanitarian law, are illegal.
"Deeply worried about reported attack against Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza tonight, with hundreds of civilian casualties. Hospitals are protected under international humanitarian law and attacks against them are illegal," Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said on X.
"Civilians and healthcare facilities must be protected," he added.
More than 500 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital on Tuesday, Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra told Anadolu.
Footage showed corpses scattered across the hospital grounds.
According to an Anadolu reporter, thousands of Palestinians were at the hospital when the building came under bombardment.
