The Israeli army on Thursday shot and killed a Palestinian boy near Ramallah city in the West Bank, raising the death toll in the occupied territory to 105 since Oct. 7.
"The young boy, Asad Hamidat, 17, was killed by the occupation gunfire in the Jalazone refugee camp north of Ramallah, bringing the total death toll to 105," the Palestinian Health Ministry, said in a statement viewed by Anadolu.
Eyewitnesses told Anadolu that clashes had erupted between dozens of Palestinians and the Israeli troops at the camp's entrance.
They added that the soldiers used live and rubber bullets to disperse the Palestinians who were throwing stones at the soldiers. The army also blocked a major road between Ramallah and the Jalazone camp with concrete barriers.
The Israeli military announced on Thursday that they had detained 1,000 Palestinians in the West Bank since the beginning of the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Among those detained, 660 are reported to be affiliated with Hamas.
However, the Palestinian Prisoners Club said in a statement on Thursday that the number of Palestinians arrested by Israel in the West Bank since Oct. 7 had reached 1,460.
It further added that the total number of prisoners in Israeli custody, based on available data, has reached approximately 6,700 amid the escalating arrest campaigns since Oct. 7.
Palestinians say the Israeli army deploys forces, closes roads, conducts raids and arrests as part of efforts to exert control over the situation in the West Bank.
