The Israeli army said on Friday that militants in Lebanon fired rockets at its site on the border between the two countries, while Hezbollah confirmed that it had targeted two Israeli military sites.
"Militants fired shells from within Lebanese territory towards an army post in the Avivim and the Misgav Am areas, without causing any casualties," the Israeli army said in a statement.
"We fired back at the sources of fire within the Lebanese territories," the army added without providing further details.
The Lebanese Hezbollah announced on Friday that it had targeted two Israeli military sites near the border, while Israel responded by bombing open areas in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah said that it "targeted the Misgav Am General site with guided missiles and destroyed part of its technical equipment."
Hezbollah also said it had bombed "Al-Sadh site with guided missiles and destroyed large parts of its facilities and equipment."
It also confirmed causing casualties among Israeli army members.
The official Lebanese News Agency reported that "an Israeli bombardment targeted open areas in the vicinity of the village of Labouneh near the town of Naqoura in southern Lebanon," without providing further details.
Lebanese group Hezbollah and the Israeli army have intermittently exchanged fire since the fighting broke out in Gaza on Oct. 7.
The conflict in Gaza began when the Palestinian group Hamas initiated Operation Al-Aqsa Flood -- a multi-pronged surprise attack on Oct. 7 that included a barrage of rocket launches and infiltrations into Israel by land, sea, and air.
Hamas said the incursion was in retaliation for the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and growing violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians.
The Israeli military then launched a relentless bombardment of Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.
Over 8,700 people have been killed in the conflict, including at least 7,326 Palestinians and 1,400 Israelis.
