The Palestinian resistance group Hamas's armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, announced Sunday that its forces targeted two Israeli tanks penetrating northwest Gaza.
The brigades said through their Telegram channel that the tanks were hit with heavy-caliber mortar shells and caught fire and that they eliminated several soldiers inside.
They added that the Israeli position of Erez had been razed by mortar and rocket fire to cut off reinforcements to the burning vehicles.
The brigades noted that confrontations with the Israeli army in the area were ongoing.
Earlier on Sunday, the brigades announced that one of their units had infiltrated behind Israeli forces penetrating the region and engaged with them in northern Gaza.
