Roma sports director Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo, or commonly known as Monchi, who played key role for bringing Turkey's Cengiz Ünder to the Italian club, praised the Turkish right winger's overall performance.
After the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals draw in the Swiss city of Nyon on Friday, Monchi told Anadolu Agency how satisfied the club was with Under.
"Cengiz will be an important player for Roma's future," he said. "He is undergoing an important process for his growth as a player."
Roma will play against Spain's Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. First legs will be played on April 3-4 and return matches on April 10-11.
When Shakhtar defeated Roma 2-1 at home in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash, Cengiz Ünder scored in the 41st minute, netting his first-ever goal in the UEFA Champions League.
Cengiz Under, 20-year-old midfielder who used to play for Turkish Super Lig runners-up Medipol Başakşehir, joined Roma this season.
He scored six goals in 22 appearances with Roma.
