Galatasaray won against Trabzonspor 2-1 in the Spor Toto Super Lig match late Sunday and continued to lead in the league.
Galatasaray winger Sofiane Feghouli scored an early goal for his team in the seventh minute of the match at Türk Telekom Stadium in Istanbul. Assisted by Mariano Ferreira Filh, Feghouli found the net in close range.
In 60th minute of the game, Galatasaray's French striker Bafetimbi Gomis doubled the lead as he took advantage of Trabzonspor defender Okay Yokuşlu's mistake. Gomis took the ball by tackling him and chipped the ball over Trabzonspor goalkeeper Onur Kıvrak.
Near the end of the match Trabzonspor narrowed the gap to one as Slovakian central midfielder Juraj Kucka scored a long range goal with a free kick in the midfield. Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera was unable to parry it since he was caught in front.
Meanwhile, Trabzonspor striker Burak Yılmaz played against his old team.
As of week 27, Galatasaray are leading the Super Lig with 57 points.
Title contenders Medipol Başakşehir are at second spot with 56 points and Beşiktaş come third with 53 points in the league table.
Medipol Başakşehir beat Teleset Mobilya Akhisarspor 2-1 on Sunday and continued to follow leaders Galatasaray.
The other Istanbul club Beşiktaş won against Aytemiz Alanyaspor 1-0 at Vodafone Park on Saturday. Beşiktaş' Brazilian attacking midfielder Anderson Talisca's goal in the 29th minute brought victory for them.
Super Lig's 27th week will end after the match between Kayserispor and Fenerbahçe will kick off on Monday at 8 p.m. local time (1700GMT).
Fenerbahçe are at fourth spot in the league table. Yellow Canaries have 48 points.
