Spanish basketball club Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz beat Turkish giants Fenerbahçe Doğuş 88-83 in the third game of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague playoff quarterfinal series late Tuesday.
Reigning Euroleague champs Fenerbahçe Doğuş aimed to bag the Euroleague Final Four ticket but Tuesday's defeat at Baskonia's home court at Fernando Buesa Arena caused the Turkish club to put off their hopes to the upcoming match.
Baskonia's French guard Rodrigue Beaubois was the key player for the Spanish victory, scoring 21 points and producing five assists.
The Spanish team's Georgian center Tornike Shengelia made double-double as he scored 10 points and took 10 rebounds.
The home team's Brazilian guard Marcelinho Huertas produced 11 points and seven assists.
In addition, Baskonia's German center Johannes Voigtmann, American guard Matt Janning and French center Vincent Poirier scored in double digits.
Visitors Fenerbahçe Doğuş' top scorer against Baskonia was Jan Vesely as the Czech center poured in 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Fenerbahçe Doğuş' Greek guard Kostas Sloukas scored 14 points and made 11 assists.
The Turkish team's Serbian guard Marko Guduric produced 12 points and Italian star Luigi Datome scored 13 points against Baskonia.
But the efforts of Fenerbahçe Doğuş' stars weren't enough to seal the victory in Spain.
Fenerbahçe Doğuş are leading the series 2-1 despite the loss.
The fourth game of the series will be held in Vitoria Gasteiz, Spain on Thursday.
In the quarterfinals, the first team to record three wins in the series will advance to the Euroleague Final Four to be held in the Serbian capital Belgrade.
