European football governing body UEFA is not investigating a medical report that Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius sustained concussion in the Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid.

A spokesperson told dpa on Tuesday that UEFA was not acting on the report after the German keeper underwent tests in the United States.

Karius, 24, had been struck by the elbow of Real defender Sergio Ramos in an incident when the May 26 game in Kiev was goalless. The keeper then went on to make two bad mistakes as his side slipped to a 3-1 defeat.

British media reports after tests at the hospital in Boston quoted Dr Ross Zafonte as saying Karius had suffered from "visual spatial dysfunction," which hampers a person's ability to process visual information about where objects are in space.

This was "likely" to have occurred immediately after the event that caused the concussion.

Minutes after the collision with Ramos, Karius threw the ball out against the outstretched leg of Real striker Karim Benzema, and it rolled into the net. He later let a shot from Gareth Bale slip through his hands.
