Turkish teenagers have won nine medals during the European School Chess Championship held in Poland's Krakow between June 29 - July 8.
According to a written statement issued by the Turkish Chess Federation on Monday, Turkey's national youth team was awarded two gold medals, two silver and five bronze.
The tournament organized by the European Chess Union hosted 343 players from 25 countries in six age categories, boys and girls competing separately.
The federation head Gülkız Tülay said in the statement that the medals gained by the Turkish team crowned the many years of training they had performed with great discipline.
"It is not a coincidence that our youngsters are so successful and returning from every tournament they attend with a success," she added.
