Italy midfielder Jorginho has become Chelsea's first signing since Maurizio Sarri was hired as manager of the Premier League club.
Around two hours after the announcement Saturday of Sarri's arrival from Napoli, Chelsea said Jorginho had joined on a five-year deal from the same Italian club.
British media reports said the fee was 57 million pounds ($75 million).
Jorginho was a deep-lying playmaker in Sarri's Napoli team that finished second in Serie A last season and played some of the best football in Europe.
Jorginho, who was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City, says "I am absolutely ecstatic to be here at Chelsea. It is not easy to become part of such a big team so I am very, very happy."
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia described Jorginho as "one of the most coveted midfielders in Europe."
