Istanbul based football club Fenerbahçe earned a vital point against Trabzonspor to move away from relegation zone by 1-1 drawing with visiting team in Saturday's Spor Toto Super Lig match thanks to a last-ditch effort of their French star Mathieu Valbuena.
Visiting team Trabzonspor took the lead in the 16th minute of the match in Fenerbahçe's home, Ülker Stadium as Turkish midfielder Yusuf Yazıcı was the scorer.
Fenerbahçe had a mountain to climb when their Turkish central defender Sadık Çiftpınar was sent off by the referee after his tackle in the 71st minute of the game.
Following the red card shown to Sadık, Fenerbahçe were down to 10 men against Trabzonspor.
Trabzonspor could escape with a victory from Kadiköy but Valbuena put the ball into Trabzonspor net in the last seconds of the injury time, scoring from freekick.
So the game in Istanbul has ended 1-1.
Fenerbahçe are still unbeaten against Trabzonspor at Kadıköy for 22 years as Trabzonspor last beat Fenerbahçe in Istanbul in Aug. 1997.
This season Fenerbahçe are spending a nightmarish season in the Super Lig as in 30 league matches Fenerbahce could get 34 points.
Fenerbahçe are now in the 14th place in league standings, a spot close to the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Trabzonspor having 53 points are in the fourth spot.
