NBA superstar Kevin Durant will announce his next team Sunday night, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported.

Durant will make his announcement via his ESPN-owned site, The Boardroom, Wojnarowski said. Durant is the executive producer of The Boardroom, which discusses the business of sports.

Reports have indicated Durant was considering the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks and his current team, the Golden State Warriors. The New York Times' Marc Stein reported Sunday afternoon that the Warriors would offer Durant a five-year, $221 million max contract when free agency opens at 6 p.m. Eastern time.

The Warriors are the only team from which he could receive the maximum contract.

Durant has been known to control his own message and not allow the media to spread his news.

In July 2016, when he chose to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder to move on to the Warriors, he announced it via The Players Tribune, putting the link to the news on his Twitter account with the words "My next chapter."

And in July 2010, when Twitter was still a relatively new medium, he announced there that he signed a five-year contract extension with the Thunder.

Durant, who turns 31 in September, is expected to miss the entire 2019-20 season because of the ruptured Achilles he suffered in Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors.

The 10-time All-Star averaged 26 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists in 78 games for the Warriors last season. He has career averages of 27 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 849 games.
