Suarez's landmark goals extend Atletico Madrid's advantage at the top

Leaders Atletico Madrid beat struggling Elche 3-1 in La Liga on Saturday with a brace from Luis Suarez taking him to significant landmark.

The Uruguayan scored the first five minutes before the break from Kieran Trippier's cross.

It was his 150th goal in 200 league games and he got his 151st on 58 minutes sliding in Yannick Carrasco's cross from the left from close range.

Elche pulled a goal back with a Lucas Boye header on 64 minutes but Diego Costa climbed off the bench and netted the third for the home side to take them three points clear at the top of the table.

Later Saturday Barcelona host Valencia, Real Sociedad go to Levante, Ossasuna are home to Villarreal and Valladolid go to Sevilla.
