"The medical tests Neymar underwent confirmed the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus tear injury in his knee. He will be going through surgery and then a treatment program that will be determined later…Return stronger Neymar," the Saudi Pro League club said on X.
The 31-year-old was in tears as he was taken off on a stretcher during Brazil's 2-0 loss to Uruguay in a Tuesday 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Montevideo.
Brazil's all-time top scorer Neymar joined Al-Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in August after six years in France, one of the big moves of this summer.
He had serious injury problems while playing for PSG such as ankle and hamstring injuries, metatarsal fractures and muscle problems.
Neymar has scored one goal and made three assists in five matches for Al-Hilal.
