In the last 10 months 60 members of the group behind last year's defeated coup in Turkey have been captured trying to illegally enter Greece and Bulgaria, a security source said Tuesday.

The source, who spoke on condition on anonymity due to restrictions on talking to media, said the alleged Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) members were apprehended in the northwestern Edirne province.

The Turkish border guards are on duty 24 hours in a restricted military zone to prevent irregular migration and the passage of terrorist suspects.

Ankara accuses the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), led by U.S.-based Fetullah Gülen, of having orchestrated the foiled coup attempt, which left 250 people martyred and nearly 2,200 others wounded.

The government also accuses FETÖ of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
