Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Monday vowed to fight "economic attacks" against his country in a video message on the eve of Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha.

"Attacks against our economy is no different than attacking our adhan [call to prayer] and flag. The purpose is same. The purpose is to bring Turkey and Turkish people to their knees, and hold them captive," Erdoğan said.

In the video message, he recalled the historic victories; 1071 Malazgirt victory and 1922 Dumlupınar victory, anniversaries of which are to be observed just after the Eid al-Adha.

The Battle of Malazgirt on Aug. 26, 1071 saw Seljuk Turks led by Sultan Alparslan defeat a Byzantine army and open up Anatolia for Turkish domination.

The Dumlupınar Battle on Aug. 30, 1922 also saw invading Greek forces' eventual defeat at the hands of the Turkish army.

Hoping that Eid al-Adha will bring goodness to entire Muslim world and humanity, Erdoğan gave the message of unity and brotherhood among the Turkish nation.

"Those who tried to make Turkey bow before them by using terror groups, traitors among us and plots, will soon see that Turkey will not give up to exchange rates," he added.

He also expressed prayers for those oppressed in Palestine, Syria, South Asia, Turkistan and other parts of the world.

This year's Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha is set to be celebrated on Aug. 21.
